What Your Audience Will Experience
More than a story. A room that goes silent.
When Lindsey speaks, something shifts in the room. People stop checking their phones. The side conversations fade. And by the time she finishes, the line to hug her stretches to the back of the venue.
The Story Behind the Story
A testimony nine years in the making
On May 5, 2016, Lindsey Cockerell was in the hospital preparing to deliver her third child when her body began to fail. At 6:00 AM, she woke unable to breathe. Her vision blurred. Her hearing in one ear vanished. Nurses dismissed it as an anxiety attack. It took 45 minutes for the doctor to arrive.
What was happening inside Lindsey's body was an Amniotic Fluid Embolism — a condition so rare it occurs in fewer than 6 out of every 100,000 deliveries, and so deadly that 20 to 60 percent of women who experience one do not survive. Amniotic fluid had entered her bloodstream, forming clots in her lungs. Her oxygen saturation dropped to 40 — a number incompatible with life. Her kidneys shut down. Her blood refused to clot.
Her son, Keaton, was delivered by emergency C-section in two and a half minutes. He was perfect. But as soon as he left her body, Lindsey's began to die.
In the moments between life and death, Lindsey experienced something she had never expected. She found herself surrounded by clouds, wrapped in a peace unlike anything she had ever known. A voice — warm, genderless, full of love and unmistakable authority — spoke to her spirit: "You can come to heaven now."
She said yes. Then the voice reminded her: "You have kids." She couldn't remember their names. Their faces were gone. And then, like a burst of light, it all came back — and she chose to return.
Lindsey spent 13 days in the ICU. She underwent dialysis. She relearned how to walk, eat, and speak. She didn't hold her newborn son consciously for 15 days. When she finally sang her daughters to sleep again, she hobbled into their room on a walker and choked back tears through the same three lullabies they'd always requested.
It took nine years to write it all down. Her debut book, Inches From Heaven, was published in December 2025 — the fulfillment of a promise she made to God while lying in that hospital bed. Ten percent of all royalties are donated to the AFE Foundation, supporting research and families affected by this condition.
A Testimony for Every Audience
Who invites Lindsey — and why
Women's retreats and ministry events
Lindsey's testimony resonates deeply with mothers, caregivers, and women walking through seasons of fear, grief, or uncertainty. Her story is about survival, but her message is about purpose — why God brings us through the valley, not just out of it. Ideal for multi-day retreats, single-session events, and prayer gatherings.
Church services
A powerful guest speaker for Sunday services, testimony nights, and prayer-focused services. Lindsey's story is non-denominational — it speaks to the universal reality of faith under fire. She brings photos, scripture, and a message that stays with congregations long after the service ends.
Youth groups
Lindsey recently spoke to a room full of teenagers at her church — and held them in complete silence. Her story cuts across age groups because it isn't about theology. It's about a real person who almost died and heard the voice of God. Young people respond to that kind of raw honesty.
Book clubs and community events
A natural fit for groups reading Inches From Heaven or exploring faith-based nonfiction. Lindsey offers a short testimony followed by Q&A, and brings signed copies of her book and companion prayer journal for purchase at the event.
Conferences and speaking circuits
For larger events seeking keynote or breakout session speakers. Lindsey's story sits at the intersection of faith, medical survival, motherhood, and resilience — a rare combination that works across multiple conference tracks.

Lindsey's ICU stay
Most obstetricians will go their entire career without seeing an AFE. Lindsey is a survivor who can speak to what the patient experiences — from the initial dismissal by nursing staff, to the 45-minute delay in physician response, to the moment a doctor who wasn't even scheduled that day recognized the signs and saved her life.
Lindsey's testimony offers a rare patient-perspective case study for medical audiences. Her experience highlights critical themes in maternal health: the importance of listening to patients who report sudden changes, the consequences of dismissing symptoms as anxiety, and the role of interdisciplinary response teams in obstetric emergencies.
She is available for hospital grand rounds, nursing program lectures, maternal health conferences, patient advocacy panels, and AFE Foundation chapter events. Her presentation can be tailored to clinical audiences while retaining the personal narrative that makes her story unforgettable.
